MaryKay, Avon, Cover Girl, Olay, and all the other make-up and skin care companies; what are they doing to the women of this world? In order for you to be considered beautiful you can't be comfortable in your own skin. You need to get rid of your wrinkles with this cream and hide this zit with this foundation. Oh, wait your cheeks are "droopy" you need a face lift. Please, someone please explain why we can't be beautiful or comfortable in our own skin. You are pushed and poked by companies, every other commercial, billboard, and magazine; "How to..." in reality alter yourself to the media's definition of pretty. You have to change your hair color, your skin tone, your weight, your eye color, your everything to fit in the correct stereotype. Why can't we all just be who we are without trying to change ourselves for everyone else. Yeah, we like to get dressed up, throw on some make up, do our hair, and get our nails done. But really, everyday put on pounds of make-up? Women and men alter their looks because it's what is expected for the beautiful people of our nation. Liposuction, botox, laser hair removal, wrinkle cream, everything its ruining us. Yet, we don't care, we still spend millions of dollars on foundation, mascara, eye shadow, creams, cosmetic surgery, tanning beds, and much much more. But you are you, uncomfortable in the skin you're in. Wanting to be the prettiest person on the street, but your not, there will always be someone prettier, smarter, more talented. So why put yourself through changes? Especially with chemicals and surgery. Look in the mirror? What's wrong? You have a zit, ok, so what, everyone gets them wash your face, but don't go spend 80$ on some wash and cream for it. You have a freckle you hate, it makes your face unique and one of a kind, you might dislike it but someone does, someone could be admiring it while your disgusted by it. You have a wrinkle, you've lived, you've laughed, you've experienced, why be ashamed of that?!
Last night, (2/2/10) I went to a MaryKay facial party for my best friend. It's not what I'm used to or anything I like, but I went for her. She didn't push anything just did what she needed for her certification and what not. But everyone else, oh you need to get this cuz you have that pimple right there. Oh you look so much prettier with that make-up on.. But the me without make-up isn't pretty? Harsh much? And you should get this to address this problem. Ok, I have a few zits, I'm 19, I'm a full-time college student, I work at a DayCare, and I live on my own. I'm STRESSED out, I'm going to have some zits trust me, and I don't care. They'll go away sooner or later. My face is moisturized, not oily, nothing wrong with it. But you want to try to knock down my confidence so you can make a few bucks. Wow. You lady are a Fing Bitch. And then you want to tell me on my way out the door not to worry I don't look like a whore, when nothing was said the entire night about whores or feeling or looking like one. Yeah, I wear make-up. But I spend about 6$ every 4 months on my make-up. Mascara and eye liner. I can go without and still feel beautiful, but some women can't leave their house without 20 minutes of hair and make-up, just to run to the corner store for a coke. Wow! I am comfortable in my skin, I don't need to better myself for others. I better myself for myself with education, experiences, and fun, not hair care, make-up, lipo, botox, or whatever.
Someone, please tell me and explain why so many women here aren't comfortable in their own skin?
